James Fiebig named to Michigan Jewelers Association board

James Fiebig, president of Fiebig Jewelers, Inc., in Sturgis, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Michigan Jewelers Association.

The board oversees the activities of the 450-member group, including the annual Greater Great Lakes Jewelry Exposition and professional development seminars for jewelers. The Michigan Jewelers Association is a division of the Michigan Retailers Association, which is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers.

Fiebig and his wife, JoAnn, operate Fiebig Jewelers, Inc., specializing in fine-cut diamonds and colored gemstones. The 21-year-old Sturgis business grew from a store founded by his parents, Art and Ila Fiebig, in Jonesville more than 50 years ago.

Since 1988, Fiebig has traveled extensively in Brazil and the African continent in search of quality gemstones for use in the store's designs. His most recent trip was to Madagascar in September.

Fiebig holds a bachelor's degree in music composition from the University of Michigan. He and his wife have two sons, Chad Nettleman and Jared Fiebig.
