Jewelers judge MJA design competition

Five jewelers from across the state recently completed two-year terms as judges for the Michigan Jewelers Association's annual Jewelry Design Competition.

The judges are:

Andrea Bronson, an art teacher at Milford High School and a West Bloomfield resident;

Jim Fiebig, of Fiebig Jewelry Inc. in Sturgis;

Mike Fuja, of Jon Michael's Jewelry in Durand;

Daren Schurman, of Aurum Jewelers in Rochester; and

Brenda Warburton, of BJW Custom Jewelry in Ann Arbor.

The judges are selected for their expertise in the jewelry field. In this year's contest, held March 30 to April 1, the panel evaluated a record 68 pieces in four student and professional categories.

"These jewelers take an entire day out their busy schedules to judge the contest," said Robin Gregory, competition coordinator for the Michigan Jewelers Association. "The Jewelry Design Competition wouldn't be possible without their dedication and involvement."

The Michigan Jewelers Association is the state affiliate of Jewelers of America and a division of the Michigan Retailers Association, the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers.
