Retailers Fund elects trustees, officersFour individuals were elected to the Board of Trustees of Retailers Fund, the self-insured workers' compensation program of the Michigan Retailers Association (MRA), at the Fund's annual meeting. Trustees serve three-year terms. Re-elected to the Retailers Fund board were: James P. Hallan, of Okemos, president and chief operating officer of Lansing-based MRA, who has been with the Association since 1985. He serves as Retailers Fund administrator and as a member of the MRA Board of Directors. Joseph Kay, of Warren, co-owner of Northland Tire and Service, Inc., an automotive service facility in Southfield. He was first elected to the Retailers Fund board in 1998. Dan Marshall, of Williamston, president of Lansing-based Marshall Music Company, one of the nation's largest music retailers. He was elected to the Retailers Fund board in 1998. Elected for the first time was: Barb Tronstein, of Bloomfield Hills, vice president in charge of finances and operations for Warren-based Gardner-White, with six furniture stores in the metropolitan Detroit area. She is treasurer of the Fresh Air Society, a youth camp serving underprivileged children. The board also elected officers for the 2001-02 fiscal year. Ann Gail, owner and president of Gail's Office Supply Co., Detroit, was re-elected as chair. Marshall was re-elected as vice chair. Retailers Fund was founded in 1981 by retailers, for retailers. It has returned more than $16 million in dividends to members since its inception. The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRA's more than 5,500 retail business members operate more than 12,000 stores across the state.
