Michigan Retailers Services, Inc., elects board membersFive individuals were elected to one-year terms on the Board of Directors of Michigan Retailers Services, Inc., the wholly-owned subsidiary and service-delivery arm of the Lansing-based Michigan Retailers Association (MRA). Re-elected to the Services board were: Larry Meyer, of Lansing, MRA chairman and CEO, who became CEO in 1972. He has received appointments from three Michigan governors, including director of the Michigan Department of Commerce. He also serves on the Lansing City Council. James P. Hallan, of Okemos, MRA president and chief operating officer, who has been with the Association since 1985. He also serves on the MRA Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of Retailers Fund, MRA's self-insured workers' compensation program. Jan Hayhow, of Okemos, retired president and general manager of Michigania, Inc., Lansing, a Michigan products gift store. She is a former chair of the MRA Board of Directors and joined the Services board in February 2001. Orin Mazzoni Jr., of Northville, president of Orin Jewelers, Inc., a family-owned business with stores in Garden City and Northville. He is also past president of the Michigan Jewelers Association, a division of MRA. He joined the Services board in 1998. Elected for the first time was: Thomas Ungrodt, of Ann Arbor, vice president of sales for Ideation, Inc., Ann Arbor, a leading producer of catalogs for independent gift retailers. He also is president of four Michigan gift stores. He previously served on the Retailers Fund Board of Trustees. The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRA's more than 5,500 retail business members operate more than 12,000 stores across the state.
