Retail industry committed to pricing accuracyLANSING - Michigan Retailers Association Chairman and
CEO Larry Meyer issued the following statement today in response to the
Michigan attorney generals "annual holiday scanner accuracy
survey." "We applaud the attorney generals more positive
tone this year and her recognition of retailers who are meeting their
commitment to pricing accuracy. "Pricing accuracy is extremely important to Michigan
retailers and has been since day one. Stores strive to be 100 percent
correct as part of their overall efforts to provide the best possible
customer service. Retailers that do not have the confidence of consumers
cannot stay in business in todays highly competitive, customer-service-oriented
marketplace. "We also believe that technology should be used to both consumers and retailers advantage. To that end, we continue to urge the Attorney General to work with the retail industry on price-marking alternatives that restrain costs and prices while providing the same accuracy and confidence as the grocers scales or the gas stations pumps." The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRA's more than 5,500 retail business members operate more than 12,000 stores across the state.
