Michigan jewelers judge design competition

Three Michigan jewelers were recognized for their service as judges for the Michigan Jewelers Association's annual Jewelry Design Competition. They are Scott Berry, a custom jeweler and owner of John and Scott Berry Jewelry in Ann Arbor; Barbara Binkley, of Cooper and Binkley Jewelers in Brighton; and Linda McMurry, a custom jeweler and an instructor for Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids.

The judges were selected from across the state for their expertise in the jewelry field. In this year's contest the panel evaluated 65 pieces in three student and professional categories. Winners were announced at the Association's Michigan Jewelry Show, held March 2-3 in Novi.

"These jewelers take an entire day out of their busy schedules to judge the contest," said Robin Gregory, competition coordinator for the Michigan Jewelers Association. "The Jewelry Design Competition wouldn't be possible without their dedication and involvement."

The Michigan Jewelers Association is the state affiliate of Jewelers of America and a division of the Michigan Retailers Association, the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers.
