LANSING Officers for the 2002-03 Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) Board of Directors were recently elected.
Mark Schrag, of Seasons in Okemos, was elected chair of the Executive Committee, succeeding Joseph McCurry, Detroit district general manager for Sears, Roebuck and Co. Larry Mullins, owner of Brandon Tire and Battery in Ortonville, was voted chair-elect, and D. Larry Sherman, retired president of Sherman Shoes, Inc. in Birmingham, treasurer.
Re-elected as officers were Larry Meyer, chairman of the board and CEO, and James P. Hallan, president and chief operating officer.
At the Association's Annual Meeting, the following directors were re-elected to three-year terms on the MRA Board of Directors: Bruce Johnson, first elected to the MRA board in 1996, is president and co-founder of Gazelle Sports in Kalamazoo. James Schwark, president of Schwark Furniture in Shelby Township. He was first elected to the MRA board in 1998. Also re-elected were D. Larry Sherman and Mark Schrag. Elected for the first time was Jean Sarasin, MRA senior vice president.
The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRA's more than 5,700 retail business members operate more than 12,000 stores across the state.
