LANSING The Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) today announced its endorsement of Dick Posthumus for governor.
MRAs Board of Directors made the endorsement based on Posthumus pro-retail record and his stance on issues important to Michigans retail industry.
"Dick Posthumus has worked closely with Michigans retail community as lieutenant governor and as a legislator, and we look forward to working with him as governor," said Larry Meyer, MRAs chairman and CEO.
"Lt. Gov. Posthumus understands the importance of the retail industry to this states economy and the fact that retailers provide nearly one in every five jobs in this state. He wants to see the retail industry grow and boost investment in technology in order to better serve Michigan consumers and their communities."
Posthumus was interviewed recently by members of the Board of Directors. Jennifer Granholms campaign declined a similar invitation.
The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nations largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRAs more than 5,800 retail business members operate more than 13,000 stores across the state.
