Retailers Fund elects officers, trustees

LANSING—Retailers Fund, the self-insured workers’ compensation program of the Michigan Retailers Association (MRA), has elected officers for the 2003-04 fiscal year.

Dan Marshall, of Marshall Music in Lansing, was re-elected chair of the Board of Trustees. Ray Rau, of Oscar Rau’s Fine Furniture and Interiors in Frankenmuth and Owosso, was re-elected vice chair. This is the second year in the positions for both.

Other board members re-elected as officers of the Retailers Fund board are:

James P. Hallan, president and chief operating officer of Lansing-based MRA, was re-elected Retailers Fund administrator and chief operating officer.

Jean Sarasin, MRA senior vice president, was re-elected secretary and treasurer.

In addition, two members were re-elected to the Board of Trustees at the Fund’s Annual Meeting: Sarasin and John K. Godfrey, of Godfrey Jewelers in Battle Creek. Sarasin was first elected to the board in 1997, Godfrey in 1985.

Retailers Fund was founded in 1981 by retailers, for retailers. It has returned more than $19 million in dividends to members since its inception.

The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation’s largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRA’s more than 5,800 retail business members operate more than 13,000 stores across the state.
