LANSING Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) Board of Directors
recently elected officers for the 2004-05 fiscal year.
Larry Mullins, owner of Brandon Tire and Battery in Ortonville, was elected chair of the MRA Board of Directors Executive Committee. Mullins succeeds Mark Schrag, who served two years in the leadership post.
Peter Sobelton, of Sundries Plus in Troy, was voted chair-elect of the Executive Committee.
D. Larry Sherman, retired president of Sherman Shoes, Inc. in Birmingham was re-elected treasurer.
Also re-elected as officers were Larry Meyer, chairman of the board and CEO, and James P. Hallan, president and chief operating officer.
In addition, the following directors were re-elected to three-year terms on the MRA Board of Directors at the Associations Annual Meeting:
W. Bruce Rogers is past chair of the board and retired president of the former Bartlings, Inc., Traverse City.
Douglas A. Schubot is chair of Jules R. Schubot Jewelers, a third-generation, family-owned business in Troy.
Barb Stein is owner/operator of Great Northern Trading Co., a specialty gifts and home décor store in Rockford.
Joe Swanson is north metro Detroit district team leader for
Target Corporation.
The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nations largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRAs nearly 6,000 retail business members operate more than 13,000 stores across the state.
