For Immediate Release

November 19, 2007

LANSING — Just in time for the busiest shopping season of the year, Michigan Retailers Association is offering consumers advice for having a safe, sane and successful holiday shopping season. A brochure entitled “Holiday Shopping Tips” has suggestions for personal safety, financial and product security, savings and sanity.

“We can’t guarantee a stress-free season, but following these tips should reduce the stress that often comes with holiday shopping and minimize the risk of more serious concerns,” said James P. Hallan, president and chief operating officer of MRA.

The tips were compiled from the suggestions of retailers, consumer advocates and other sources. They are available at MRA’s website, www.retailers.com, or by contacting MRA’s Laura Adkins at 800.366.3699 or ladkins@retailers.com.

The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation’s largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRA’s 5,500 retail business members operate more than 12,000 stores across the state.
