Members re-elect directors, trustees at annual meetings

Four members of the MRA Board of Directors were re-elected and a new director elected at the Association’s Annual Meeting on June 25 at Brook Lodge in Augusta.

Participants of Retailers Fund, MRA’s self-funded workers’ compensation insurance program, also re-elected members of the fund’s Board of Trustees at their Annual Meeting immediately following the MRA session.

Re-elected to three-year terms on the MRA board were:

• Bruce Johnson, president and co-founder of Gazelle Sports, Kalamazoo;

• Mark Schrag, owner of Seasons, Okemos, and current chair-elect of the Executive Committee;

• James Schwark, president of Schwark Furniture, Shelby Township;

• D. Larry Sherman, retired president of Sherman Shoes, Inc., Birmingham and current board treasurer.

Elected to her first three-year term was Jean Sarasin, MRA senior vice president.

Re-elected to three-year terms on the Retailers Fund board were:

• Ann Gail, owner and president of Gail’s Office Supply Co., Detroit and current board chair;

• Rod Phillips, owner of Country Casuals, Petoskey;

• Ray Rau, president of Oscar Rau’s Fine Furniture & Interiors, Frankenmuth.

New officers for 2002-03 will be selected at the August MRA and Retailers Fund board meetings in Lansing.
