New receptionist provides human touch

Call many businesses and you’ll hear a computerized voice instructing you to press various keys in hopes of reaching the right person. But if you phone MRA, you’ll most likely hear the voice of receptionist Darcy Clark.

Clark started with MRA in October through a temporary agency and officially joined the MRA staff in January. In addition to assisting MRA’s many callers and visitors each day, she helps with mailings and other projects.

Clark previously worked for a year in customer service at Art Van Furniture in Lansing. There she helped customers who called in with questions about their orders. She also processed paperwork for purchases and Art Van credit cards.

“I liked it because it was fast-paced and kept me busy,” she said.

Clark says she also enjoys the work atmosphere at MRA.

“Everyone is friendly and nice,” she said. “That attitude spills over into helpful customer service for members.”

Originally from Hastings, Clark moved to Lansing last August. Her long-term goal is to go to college and study accounting, a subject that’s one of her strong points and contributed to her graduation with honors from Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa. She plans to attend Lansing Community College part time.

Also ahead is marriage to fiance Aaron Doerr.
