Douglas J braids salon and school

Douglas J Salon and Aveda Institute in East Lansing celebrated the opening of their new home in the former Jacobson’s department store space on Grand River Avenue in East Lansing, this past September.

The family-owned salon and school has become known as one of the largest and most progressive salon institutes in the country. “Douglas J has branded itself in this community as a standard in style and quality,” said Scott Weaver, co-owner of Douglas J and head of the Aveda Institute. “By continuing to focus on education and training, we have created a truly modern facility that gives students the opportunity to learn in the best possible environment.”


Sixteen Michigan Gift Mart showrooms have added over 45 new product lines this past August. Offering regular gift shows and temporary exhibits, the Michigan Gift Mart, located in Northville, includes nearly 80 showrooms within a 100,000 square foot center. For more information, call 800.886.6247.


Another Lifestyle Center has opened in Michigan. This one, the Village of Rochester Hills, is the first in the Detroit metro area. The $90 million project boasts over 50 shops and restaurants, including the largest Talbot’s in Michigan and the first Coldwater Creek women’s clothing and gift store in metro Detroit.
