New-look bankcard statement
brings added member benefits

Michigan Retailers Association bankcard customers will see a new look to their statements starting in November. The new look brings with it added member benefits.

The statement has been redesigned so that it is simpler to read and provides information on current bankcard issues. Statements will also be in color and include the MRA logo, and eventually the logos of MRA community bank partners.

The changes are the result of a new computer database system. On October 1, MRA switched bankcard processing settlement functions to a new company.

An added benefit to members is the updated archive of credit card activity. In the past, when a customer wanted credit card records or information from a given day, it took literally weeks to retrieve the information. With the new system, a customer can call MRA and, within minutes, MRA customer service representatives can bring up on their computer screen specific details about dates and all transactions that occurred on those dates.

“We feel this is a big value to bankcard customers,” said James P. Hallan, MRA’s president and chief operating officer. “Customers who have a specific question about a specific transaction on any given day will now have quicker access to the right information.”
