Directors name officers for 2002-03

Mark Schrag, owner of Seasons in Okemos, is the new chair of the MRA Board of Directors Executive Committee.

He was elected by directors at the August 12 board meeting to succeed Joe McCurry, who served two years in the leadership post. Schrag served as chair-elect for two years.

“Joe has put a lot of time and effort into being chairman, and I commend him for the job he’s done,” said Schrag. “I have big shoes to fill, and I’m counting on everyone to help me fill them.”

Larry Mullins, of Brandon Tire & Battery in Ortonville, was voted chair-elect of the Executive Committee.

D. Larry Sherman, retired owner of the former Sherman Shoes in Birmingham, was re-elected treasurer. Larry Meyer remains as MRA chairman and CEO, and James P. Hallan continues as president and chief operating officer.

The Retailers Fund Board of Trustees elected Dan Marshall, of Marshall Music in Lansing, as chair. He succeeds Ann Gail, of Gail’s Office Supply in Detroit.

Trustees also elected Ray Rau, of Oscar Rau’s Fine Furniture and Interiors in Frankenmuth and Owosso, as vice chair. He succeeds Marshall.

Other continuing Retailers Fund officers from MRA are Chairman and CEO Meyer, President, Chief Operating Officer and Fund Administrator Hallan and Jean Sarasin, secretary and treasurer.
