
Sporthaus honors
founder
Don Thomas Sporthaus, a ski shop with locations in Bloomfield
Hills and Gaylord, celebrated 50 years in business with an open house
honoring its founder and owner, Don Thomas. The business is the oldest
active ski shop in America owned and operated by the original founder.
Village
Fabrics & Crafts in Paradise has moved into its new addition,
completed this summer.
The former retail space is now the Schoolhouse,
to be used for classes, speakers and other events, as well as for community
projects to benefit the area. One such project is making quilts and cravats
for accident victims through the Paradise Area EMS.
Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace celebrated the grand
opening of its new location in Clinton Township in late October. The 53,000-square-foot
structure is the fourth location for the company.
Founded in 1979 by the late Nino Salvaggio, the organization has grown
from its original site in St. Clair Shores by adding locations in Farmington
Hills, Troy and Macomb County.
Thomas D. Ungrodt has successfully completed the purchase
of Ann Arbor-based Ideation, Inc., the company founded by his late
father, Skip Ungrodt. Ungrodt has already been serving as president and
chief financial officer.
In addition, Evelyn Harris has joined the staff as a graphic
designer. Harris comes to the firm with over 20 years of design and marketing
experience, and served most recently as art director for Servant Publications
in Ann Arbor..
Jennifer Chambers of Wm. D. Nord Jewelers in Kalamazoo
was awarded a Jewelers of America Scholarship to cover the tuition for
a home study course offered by the Gemological Institute of America. She
completed the Colored Stones Essentials course with the scholarship.
