Directors elect 2004-05 officers

Larry Mullins, of Brandon Tire & Battery in Ortonville, is the new chair of the MRA Board of Directors Executive Committee.

He was elected at the August 16 board meeting to succeed Mark Schrag, who served two years. Mullins served as chair-elect for two years.

Peter Sobelton, of Sundries Plus in Troy, was voted chair-elect of the Executive Committee.

D. Larry Sherman, retired owner of the former Sherman Shoes in Birmingham, was re-elected treasurer. Larry Meyer remains as MRA chairman and CEO, and James P. Hallan continues as president and chief operating officer.

The Retailers Fund Board of Trustees elected Ray Rau, of Oscar Rau’s Fine Furniture and Interiors in Frankenmuth, as chair. He succeeds Dan Marshall, of Marshall Music in Lansing.

Trustees also elected Rod Phillips, of Country Casuals in Petos-key, as vice chair. He succeeds Rau.

Other continuing Retailers Fund officers from MRA are Chairman and CEO Meyer, Chief Operating Officer and Fund Administrator Hallan and Jean Sarasin, secretary and treasurer.
