Strong start for new shipping program

MRA members are jumping on the Association’s new shipping program.

Within the first 10 days of the announcement, more than three dozen members signed up or asked for more information about the program to save retailers 5 to 55 percent on their inbound and outbound shipping costs. The program began July 1.

MRA has teamed up with PartnerShip, a freight broker in Oberlin, Ohio, that secures lower rates with shippers and passes on those savings to its members, which now include members of MRA, the first state-wide organization to work with PartnerShip.

“The members have been very enthusiastic about the savings they will receive on their shipments,” said Brad Alflen, MRA’s sales manager at PartnerShip. “They find it hard to believe that this program is a free member benefit and that there are no hidden costs.”
