Sail to your 'Blue Ocean'

An MRA luncheon seminar designed to prepare retailers for the upcoming holiday season, will be presented by Susan Arlin of Performance Concepts. The seminar, entitled “Blue Ocean Strategy and the Holidays: Creating the Experience that Sets You Apart,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 12 at the University Club in Lansing.

“As you prepare for the upcoming holiday season, remember that value—both real and perceived—is the determining factor in most purchase decisions” said Arlin.

“Many retailers are struggling to stay afloat in the ‘Red Ocean’ of overwhelming, often bloody, competition for the same small slice of an already defined market driven by product and price. At the same time, there’s a small but powerful movement that’s taking the best of the best into the ‘Blue Ocean’ of previously untapped market segments.”

In this presentation—based on the concepts in the recent business best-seller Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne—you’ll discover more about your customer’s drives, needs, interests and demands while learning practical techniques for building both real and perceived value in your store—all on the way to creating your own “Blue Ocean.”

The fee for the event, including lunch, is $30 for MRA members and $35 for non-members. Contact Amy Jolley at 800.366.3699 or ajolley@retailers.com to register.
