Mutual draws agents' interest

The new Retailers Mutual Insurance Company caught the attention of a lot of insurance agents at the recent Michigan Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) annual trade show. A Retailers Mutual booth helped familiarize the industry with the new company and attract independent agents interested in representing it.

“The event exceeded our expectations,” said Tom Tuggle, MRA’s director of sales and community banking. “Some agents were aware of the former Retailers Fund, but most were unaware of the transition to Retailers Mutual—or that they can now sell our services, since in the past they were not able to.”

Retailers Mutual also hosted a hospitality suite one evening at the event, allowing staff to talk about the new company and its product to agents in a more relaxed atmosphere.

MAIA’s trade show, a major annual event for the state’s insurance industry, was held this year at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City. Over 100 booths offered information to more than 500 attendees.

Retailers Mutual policies are sold exclusively through independent agents, and the company continues to seek agents to promote and sell Retailers Mutual in all regions of the state. Members are encouraged to ask their local insurance agent to seek appointment as a Retailers Mutual agent if he or she isn’t one already.
