Open enrollment in full swing…
Open enrollment, the one time all year when MRA health insurance participants can make changes in subscriber coverage by adding employees and dependents, is underway and lasts until the end of June. Changes made during this period will become effective on July 1.

The May-June period is also open enrollment for MRA’s self-funded dental insurance program, administered by Delta Dental Plan of Michigan. A second dental open enrollment period is held in November-December.

Participants are encouraged to consider possible changes to their health or dental insurance plans, and all members can take this opportunity to review MRA’s health and dental insurance programs.

Group-wide insurance changes…
Since new group rates go into effect on July 1, many groups also make changes to their group health insurance plan at this time (although such changes can be made at any time). Group-wide changes become effective after a 45-day processing period required by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

In addition, since each year BCBSM rolls out new or revised options, there may be ways to save money by reviewing your current plan and considering adjustments or alternatives.

Shipping savings climb…
Participants in MRA’s Shipping Savings program continue to see their total savings rise. Through March, members had saved a total of $15,000—a discount of 19 percent off the cost of shipping those items.
