Contactless card readers available at huge savings

Contactless card readers work with the latest credit card technology to speed and simplify check-out at your point of sale. For a limited time, MRA is offering a contactless card reader device that works with your current terminal for only $49—a big savings off the retail price of $200-250.

To qualify for this special price, MRA members must order the device, install it and complete a test transaction before December 1.

An article in last May’s Retailer (see “New credit cards promote flash over cash”) explained the new technology in some depth. The article is available online at retailers.com under “Michigan Retailer.” Using one of these contactless credit cards—MasterCard, AmEx, Discover and Visa cards bearing logos such as PayPass, ExpressPay, Tap-n-Go, FastTap, Blink or simply Visa contactless—a customer merely taps the card on the reader rather than swiping it.

The reader quickly returns an authorization and determines whether a signature is needed. For transactions of $25 or less, no signature is required.
