Switch to e-survey going wellThe transition to online data collection for the Michigan Retail Index survey is proving successful. In January and February, the first months the online system was used, 207 members completed the survey online each month. That number is on par with the numbers responding to the former postcard format. Under the new system, MRA contacts members via e-mail, providing a link that leads to the secure, confidential survey online. Because there are members for whom MRA doesnt have an e-mail address, some members will not receive an invitation to the survey until they provide this information to MRA. To participate in the Index survey, simply notify us by e-mail at mra@retailers.com. The benefits of moving to an online survey are numerous. Most users find it faster and easier to complete, and theres no need to remember to mail it back. Results can be tabulated and reported more quickly and with far less chance of human error. The Retailer conducted a small, random telephone survey of members whose e-mail address it has on file. Of those who reported completing the online survey, all had also completed the postcard survey in the past. All who participated in both forms of the survey said they preferred the online survey to the postcard form, citing the convenience and ease of use. Judy Robinson, of Bargains Unlimited in Lakeview, is especially glad to see the new system because in the past, the post office would occasionally return her completed postcard response when it had come apart in the mail system. Im more confident that my responses really get counted with the online system, said Robinson. |
