Clothing
Matters, in Grand Rapids, sells a large variety of apparel and housewares
made from sustainable fibers and fiber blends, including bamboo, hemp,
soy, ramie, tencel and organic cotton.
According to the Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability,
a sustainable textile can be natural fiber or synthetic, petrochemical-based,
as long as throughout its supply chain all processes are environmentally
friendly and protect the health of humans and ecological systems.
With increased media attention to environmental issues, consumer demand
for eco-friendly apparel and housewares is on the rise and expected to
continue to grow.
