Michigan Retailers names business representative for U.P., Northern Michigan

LANSING – David S. Phillips, a Traverse City resident with solid experience in sales and client service, has joined Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) as its business development representative for the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan.

He becomes the local contact for members and prospective members in the counties of Alcona, Alger, Alpena, Baraga, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Chippewa, Crawford, Delta, Dickinson, Emmet, Gogebic, Grand Traverse, Houghton, Iosco, Iron, Kalkaska, Keweenaw, Leelanau, Luce, Mackinac, Manistee, Marquette, Menominee, Missaukee, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Ontonagon, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, Roscommon, Schoolcraft and Wexford.

Prior to joining MRA, he was based in Traverse City serving as consumer operations manager for the Northern and Western Michigan Territory of Penske Truck Rental. He previously was in sales and marketing for Ascent Health Care Solutions in Phoenix, Arizona, territory sales representative for PepsiCo Bottling Group in Howell and a mortgage broker for First Premier Mortgage in Farmington Hills.

Phillips earned his undergraduate degree in business from Central Michigan University. He and his wife, Amber, have one child and reside in Traverse City.
