LANSING, MI - Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) has announced its endorsement of Douglas Lloyd (R) for Michigan Attorney General in the 2026 election.

Lloyd receives endorsement from MRA

With more than thirty years of experience as a prosecutor, and the last thirteen as the elected Eaton County Prosecutor, Doug Lloyd knows how to protect the public, ensure fair and legal business practices, and prevent fraud in our communities. Lloyd has been a longtime friend of the retail industry, serving on the Organized Retail Crime Advisory Board after being appointed by Governor Snyder in 2013. He also established Eaton County’s Economic Crimes Unit, recovering over $10 million for local businesses and serving as a model program for other prosecuting authorities.

“Michigan’s retailers need an Attorney General who makes fighting organized retail crime a top priority,” said Bill Hallan, President and CEO of Michigan Retailers Association. "Doug Lloyd has a strong history of supporting Michigan’s retail industry with effective theft and fraud prevention while simultaneously ensuring the public’s protection from instances of illegal business practices. He is dedicated to strengthening Michigan’s economy by ensuring a business climate that is fair and safe for consumers and business owners alike.”

This endorsement marks the first from Michigan Retailers Association for the 2026 general election. Endorsements are made by the Michigan Retailers Association Board of Directors, a group of retail leaders representing a variety of businesses across Michigan.

More election coverage and voter guidance will be shared with MRA members throughout the election season.

Friends of Retail List Coming Soon

MRA’s “Friends of Retail” list is expected in the coming weeks, featuring a list of candidates across the state who have a track record of supporting retail-friendly legislation, or whose views and priorities support a healthy retail industry for Michigan. While being highlighted as a “Friend of Retail” is not an endorsement from MRA, it signifies passing a review process based on personal survey responses and voting records (for incumbents).
