Spring is here, and with the season comes sidewalk sales. Maximize the impact of your sidewalk sale this season with strategic focus on a few areas:
High-visibility signage and coordinated displays
Get creative with the space you have available. Use eye-catching sandwich boards, flags, window decals or signs, and digital signage to attract shoppers. Your signage should be clearly visible and engaging. Try something you haven’t done before to draw new shoppers’ attention. Feature popular inventory in window displays to draw shoppers into the store.
Lean into loyalty programs
Bring existing customers back to shop the sidewalk sale by offering extra incentives to loyalty program members. Bonus rewards or additional discounts can encourage shoppers to make a special trip and take advantage of the sale.
Clearly mark discounted inventory to move more items
Don’t lose customers to confusion or surprises; mark your discounts clearly. Both sale signage and item price tags should help customers know what to expect at checkout and encourage the sale.
Coordinate with local events/neighbors
Check with your local chamber, DDA, and other business groups for their event schedules to see when your area might have an influx of foot traffic (and shoppers). Work with neighboring businesses to coordinate sale dates. Refer shoppers to other local stores with different inventory to build community relationships.
